If you are interested in singing on a regular basis then you are invited to join the Adult Choir. The Adult Choir performs beautiful music encompassing a variety of styles from classical to gospel and folk to jazz. Singers of all abilities are welcome! The ability to read music is not a prerequisite. Just ask any choir member how much this activity means to them and you will get a sense of the amazing ministry you can experience as a part of this group. Membership is open to all singers, high school age and older. Weekly rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 pm.
KALEIDOSCOPE, UUCW'S WORSHIP BAND
Our worship band Kaleidoscope provides rockin' music for some of our Sunday worship services throughout the year. The band plays everything from U2 to Katy Perry to Kool & The Gang to the Beach Boys to James Taylor. Interested musicians are welcome to audition at any time within the year.
Led by UUCW member Christine Georgenson, in this fun multigenerational activity you will learn basic musical concepts, technique, and UU songs on the ukulele. Also fun for medium to advanced players.
The Multigenerational Choir is open to all singers, ages 5 to 125. Fun for families, empty nesters, kids, and everybody! The Multigenerational Choir sings during our annual Holiday Music Service.
The Christmas Choir sings traditional and new four-part Christmas carols at the 4:30 Christmas Eve service. Individuals participating in the Christmas choir should have proficiency in reading music.
The Solstice Singers lead music during our Earth-Based ritual services, including Beltane, Samhain and Winter Solstice. Music is learned by rote and singers of all levels are welcome to participate.
UUCW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
The UUCW Symphony Orchestra is open to all woodwind, string, brass, and percussion players who are members or friends of UUCW -- students, hobbyists, and professionals alike. The orchestra plays at the 8:00pm Christmas Eve service.
SPECIAL MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES
Our worship services are frequently enhanced by musicians who seek a performance/service opportunity not affiliated with one of our other established musical groups. If you have any musical gilfts to share, or are interested in connecting with other musicians, please let us know so your voice can be heard!
The Music Committee assists UUCW’s Director of Music in guiding the music program. Meetings: first Thursday of the month, 5:45pm.
