Piecemakers Quilt Group Travels to 13th Quilt Nihon Exhibit

The UUCW Piecemakers Quilt Group will be traveling to the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts in Cedarburg on Sunday, August 26, for the 13th Annual Quilt Nihon Exhibit. The group will carpool from church, leaving after the Sunday Service. After a stop for lunch, they will proceed to the museum. To sign up for the outing, contact Carolyn Lawrence via the church office.

This traveling international exhibit features highlights from the acclaimed 2015 international quilt competition. This biennial exhibition is the largest international quilting contest in Japan and one of the most prestigious in the world. It is sponsored by the JHIA, a group promoting handcrafted arts in Japan for over 40 years. Winning quilts from their traveling exhibit were first presented at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, and is broken down into two categories, “Traditional” and “Contemporary.” WMQFA will be hosting a sampling of both. This special exhibit will continue through September 23.

The Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts is located at N50 W5050 Portland Rd., Cedarburg, WI 53012.
