In the Religious Education Program at Unitarian Universalist Church West, we strive to guide our children and youth in the liberal search for truth and meaning. We seek to help them explore their world and themselves for the treasures around them that reveal the deeper significance and beauty of their humanity. As they learn about themselves, they learn to care for one another and for all of creation.
We hope to nurture our children in the unfolding of their unique way of being in the world, while fostering the development of moral character and personal integrity. We believe that from this foundation flows compassion and respect for all people and life-long commitment to peace and justice.
In religious education, we use a modified Montessori model to help children grow into our Unitarian Universalist values, while garnering from the wisdom of other faith traditions. We offer the children and youth opportunities to worship together and celebrate their faith, both within their classrooms and together with the greater congregation.
But most importantly, we hope to support each family in exploring ways to bring religious education home--to use our family life as the foundation for our growing up Unitarian Universalist.
This is your Religious Education Program, and I am proud to be here to serve you.
