Bylaws Review?  What’s that you ask? Our bylaws are the rules that govern our church. Beginning in 2017 and every 5 years thereafter our Bylaws undertake a comprehensive review. The Nominating Committee nominates at least 5 but not more than 10 members to be on that committee, as determined by the Board. Proposed revisions are first presented to the board and then to the congregation at the annual meeting where they are voted upon. Why are we telling you this? Well, it’s been 5 years since the last Bylaws Review and it’s time for another one.

You’ll also recall we have taken on a new initiative to dismantle oppressive systems including white supremacy culture, gender bias and LQBTQIA+ with our 8th Principle. Our Anti-Racism Task Force is actively working to develop programs and guidelines that will help transform our congregation.  This comprehensive effort will take time and commitment. With this in mind, your Board has put the Bylaws review on hold until the impact on our governance is more fully understood.

We look forward to taking this journey together.
