Food, entertainment, and the chance to bid and win fabulous auction items is coming up November 11-14 – to be enjoyed from the comfort of your own home! Our biennial UUCW Auction is going virtual this year – with four days of online bidding and our livestreamed Auction Evening on November 14!
The Auction is a great way to shop while supporting your UU values. The registration fee is just $10 per person. You’ll receive the chance to bid on quality goods and services, a great livestreamed event, and a special selection of delicious snacks packed up for you by Chef Leslie Peterson and her crew! (Snack kits will be delivered in advance of Auction Night along with your chosen beverage.) It’s going to be a leaping good time!
Bidding and Buying
When you register for the Auction, you’ll be given a bidder number, which you use for all three sections of the auction listed below. Online bidding and buying begin on November 11 and end at 9:00 pm Auction Night, November 14, 2020:
- Little Leapers/Prix Fixe items: These are goods and services with set prices, purchased online via on a first-come, first-served basis
- Leapfrogs/Silent Auction: A minimum bid is requested, and the online bidding goes up from there. The highest bidder wins!
- High-Jumpers/Live Auction: During our Livestreamed Entertainment – these extra-special items will be up for online bidding. It’s going to be fun to bid, watch the entertainment, and see who the big bidders are!

Donation Ideas to get your creative juices flowing….
“Basket ‘O Fun” — Put together a basket of items focused around a theme, like Movie Night, Wondrous Winter Wines, Family Fun Crafts, or Cards ‘n Crunchies. You could join with a committee or group to do this!
Vacation Cottage — Donate the use of your vacation home for a week or weekend.
Yard Work or Home Repair Services — Love to rake or weed? Can you do minor home repairs or painting? Auction off an hour or two of your services!
Special Dinner Party — These are especially popular at our Auction. Team up with your friends to offer a memorable meal — chose your own cuisine!
Jewelry or Luxury Goods — Do you have lovely jewelry in new condition that you never wear? Another luxury item you’ve never used? These could be perfect Auction donations.
Art or Handcrafted Items — Hand-made items are always a wonderful donation. Woodworkers, quilters, artists – take note!
Gift Cards — Buy a gift card for your favorite local business and donate it (or donate a gift card you just might have lying around…)
Teach a skill or offer a service — Are you a whiz at something? Consider donating that – or offer a lesson or two done via zoom or other online services. You might also offer a workshop for a small group where people can learn what you know!!
Host an Adventure — The possibilities for exploring and enjoying are endless in beautiful Wisconsin. At previous auctions, folks have offered Geocaching trips, hikes, sailing, bike rides, and more.
Deliciousness —Perhaps you could auction off a home-baked pie, or a dozen muffins to be delivered on a Sunday morning. Perhaps you make a great soup! Or an Italian specialty like lasagna with a nice green salad. If you make candy or cookies, consider packaging a dozen in a pretty box to offer at the Auction.
You also can ask a local business to make a donation — email Vicki Banville, Church Administrator, and she’ll give you the forms you need for this!
Put November 11-14 on your calendar, and plan to begin online bidding on the 11th, and plan to attend the LEAP! Live Auction Event, too! Contact Vicki Banville, Church Administrator, with your questions.
