Banned Books Storytelling Event for All Ages

Saturday, January 21st

Come enjoy a winter afternoon enjoying storybooks that have been banned by some school boards for content related to diversity or race. Selected storybooks are intended for ages 4-12 years but all ages will enjoy the messages of resilience and inspiration.

A variety of books will be shared which may include:
Anti-Racist Baby by Ibram X. Kendi
The Family Book by Todd Parr
Red: A Crayon’s Story by Michael Hall
Where Are You From? by Jaime Kim
And Tango Makes Three by Justin Richardson and Peter Parnett
The Marvellous Doctors for Magical Creatures by Jodie Lancet-Grant and Lydia Corr
Something Happened in Our Town: A Child’s Story about Racial Injustice by Marianne Celano, Marrietta Collins and Ann Hazzard
The Proudest Blue: A Story of Hijab and Family by Ibtihaj Muhammed with S.K. Ali 

The afternoon event will include age-appropriate conversation as well as singing and snacks.
Come at 3 pm and stay as long as you can!

This fundraising event was offered during our biennial Auction and fees collected will go to the general UUCW budget. Admission: $15 for adults and FREE for youth/children who attend with their adult. Payment at the door by cash or credit card.

Please bring a nonperishable food item for our Food Pantry.
