In his account of his life, George de Benneville tells us of his personal religious experiences which changed his life. Thomas Moore, in “The Soul’s Religion” discusses belief as an act of love and not purely an intellectual assent to propositions. Our November meeting of the Christian Spirituality for UUs will look at the similarities between these two people with over 200 years between them and see how we can relate their experiences to our own and our UU principles and sources.
You are welcome to join the group on November 10th at 7 PM at UUCW for an informal discussion on the topic of Personal Religious Experience and Belief Please RSVP to Jim Maletta to receive the reading materials in advance of the meeting.
The reading material is a few pages of notes from reading of the book The Soul’s Religion by Thomas Moore as well as a personal account written by George de Benneville in 1782.
