Christian Fundamentalism is a uniquely American religious development but it has had an outsized influence on our society and our politics over the past century. Many of us know people who are Fundamentalists –maybe even some of our own family members—but do we really understand what the core beliefs of Christian Fundamentalism are?
Many of these beliefs are tied to a literal interpretation of the Bible and they grew out of reaction to the development of liberal Christian theology in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Our January meeting of the Christian Spirituality for UUs will discuss the basic beliefs of Fundamentalism and their approach to the Bible compared with modern academic literary understandings of the Bible and the history of its development into the literary collection we have today.
The next meeting will be on January 12, 2023 at 7:00 pm at UUCW. All are welcome to join us for this discussion.
