Help build homes – and community – in the Dominican Republic in July 2026
We are reviving our popular service-learning program, formerly known as the Nicaragua Brigades, to again lead a group of 10-22 volunteers to build homes for and with families in rural communities in Central America. Our destination for July 2026 is the Dominican Republic!
Between 2004 and 2019, UUCW led over 190 volunteers in 15 groups, and we are excited to continue this important work. Our partner in this rich experience is again Bridges to Community, a non-profit organization that has been engaging in sustainable development by forming long-term relationships with communities affected by poverty since 1992.
Our 9-day trip in July 2026 (exact dates TBD) is open to volunteers ages 15 and up. To learn more, join us for a 90-minute information session after church service on Sunday, September 21, 11:30 – 1:00 pm in UL4.
A hearty lunch of tamales, gallo pinto, chips, and salsa will be served, so please RSVP to Jim Fischer.
