“Essential Workers, Essential Questions: Labor, Solidarity, and Faith”

Sunday, September 5th

Our UU faith guides us to ask questions. This Labor Day, what questions might we ask? And what might we do with the answers that present themselves?
About our Guest: As the daughter of UUCW members Dorothy Ann and Warren Phinney, Cynthia grew up in Wauwatosa, WI. After leaving college, Cynthia secured a job at Central Maine Power where she became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. This led to her hiring as a full-time union organizer and then later elected as business manager of IBEW Local 1837. In 2015 she retired from CMP and was elected president of the Maine AFL-CIO, a federation of approximately 160 labor organizations comprised of nearly 40,000 workers across the state. She is currently serving her second term in that position.
