Seventy years ago, in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the peoples of the world reaffirmed “their faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person and in the equal rights of men and women.” Faced with a toxic environment of inequality, unfairness, and disregard for human dignity, how do we stay true to values of compassion, equality, and justice? Life-long human rights advocate and teacher, Barbara Frey, will talk about the steps we can take to promote human rights today in our country and the world. Dan Dance and Jennifer Nicoloci, Lead Music Director, will bring us beautiful music today.
About our Guest: Barbara Frey is Director of the Human Rights Program at the University of Minnesota. Frey speaks and publishes regularly on human rights topics including forms of international human rights advocacy, migration and human rights, and firearms and human rights.
