Join UUCW members in Madison on Tuesday, March 26 – 8:00 am – 3:00 pm, to lobby for a just state budget. Madison Masonic Center , 301 Wisconsin Avenue, Madison
UUCW is a member of MICAH, the local affiliate of the WISDOM state-wide faith-based community organization. Every two years when the biennial state budget is up for approval, WISDOM brings together over 1000 people from across the state to lobby their legislators for a state budget that reflects the values of justice and compassion. Madison Action Day is a chance to affect change at the state level and advocate for “The Beloved Community,” focusing on themes of Radical Inclusion, Reconciliation, and Living for the Seventh Generation. We will rally together to advocate and educate representatives about related issues in the proposed state budget. Specific issues include criminal justice reform, increases to public transit, driver cards for those without documentation, and more. The morning includes background sessions on the issues and lobbying tips and the afternoon is spent visiting your state representatives and senators with others from your district. Those of us who have attended previously can attest that it is an inspiring and educational day that does make a difference in the final state budget and the thinking of legislators.
