Wisconsin’s epidemic of mass incarceration is devastating Wisconsin communities: destroying lives, wasting taxpayer money, and failing to make us safer. Together we can fix this broken system and invest in people instead of prisons – but only if we make our voices heard.
Join UUCW Social Action Chair Ann Heidkamp and people from around the state from the ACLU, WISDOM faith based community organizations, and EXPO, the formerly incarcerated persons organization, for the Smart Justice Campaign at the Wisconsin State Capitol on January 29 to urge our state legislature to reduce our prison population and support reforms that will make Wisconsin stronger and safer.
Attendees will hear from people who have been impacted by Wisconsin’s system of mass incarceration, learn the basics of effective advocacy through storytelling, and meet with their elected officials.
Please register here for meal planning and transportation purposes. If you register, email Ann Heidkamp so we can keep track of UUCW attendees.
Meeting with your representatives is the most effective way to make change. Don’t miss this chance to join advocates and activists from around the state and help build a stronger, safer, and more just future for Wisconsin.
