This month, you will see in UUCW’s East lobby a tree decorated for the holidays. Look more closely and you will find ornaments, made by current RE students, for you to take home with you. In exchange for each ornament taken, you are invited to return an un-wrapped gift suggested on the reverse side. All gifts received by Dec. 19 will be delivered to UUCW’s Split the Plate partner this month, Running Rebels, as chosen by UUCW youth. Your gift will, in turn, be distributed at their Christmas Party to an at-risk teen currently being mentored in one of Running Rebels’s many programs.

Any “teen” (age 12-17) gift will be appropriate. Some ideas:

  • something “tech” oriented (examples: earbuds, gaming headset, Xbox or Nintendo controller, portable/hub charger, Bluetooth accessory, gift card for Gamestop, Playstation, etc.)
  • winter-wear accessories (gloves, hat)
  • hoody (sweatshirt)
  • game (board, cards)
  • gift card for any local store/shop

Of course, Sunday Split-the-Plate donations are also being gratefully accepted all month, to assist in the relationship building that the Running Rebels staff and volunteers continue year-round. Their mission, to guide Milwaukee youth into adulthood, helps those youth develop the resources and skills necessary to become thriving, connected, and contributing adult members of our community.

Thank you for helping make their holiday season a festive one!
