WISDOM’s Madison Action Day last week was wildly successful! UUCW members were well represented in both the MICAH and SOPHIA delegations.  Close to 500 WISDOM leaders from around the state participated.

Almost every State Senator and Assembly Representative (or their staff member) was visited by WISDOM people who actually live in the district. We talked about our priority items for the upcoming state budget and left them our Building the Beloved Community: WISDOM Priorities 2023-25 booklet (download it HERE).

Some of our favorite things about the booklet:

  • It shows who we are and gives a glimpse into the geographically, racially, and religiously diverse community we are working to build around the state.
  • It shows what we are working on and these pages capture some (but, believe it or not, not all) of the issues WISDOM communities are working to address.
  • It shows what we believe in and lifts up some of the deep values that unite us and impel us to keep working for justice.

We spent the morning at the Masonic Center, then processed together to the Capitol where we had a prayer vigil on the steps, before going in to visit our legislators. Both the morning program and vigil speakers were inspirationally powerful. It was a great way to live out our faith values and UU principles!

We’ll be forming a new MICAH-SOPHIA-WISDOM Core Team in the next weeks. If you want to join the fun and contribute your energies to meaningful justice work, contact Joyce Cable, or Barb Pfarr.
