At UUCW, we do direct service, education, and advocacy on issues relating to economic justice. Through our “Split the Plate” program, we support ten organizations per year by donating 50% of undesignated Sunday offering funds. We also gather donations of food and other needed items for food pantries around our Milwaukee metropolitan area.
UUCW adults and youth provide and serve food to homeless men six times a year at The Guest House shelter in Milwaukee. We conduct an annual giving campaign via the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s Guest at Your Table program, which supports human rights work across the U.S. and the globe.
And via our Brigades program, conducted via partner organization Bridges to Community, we have sent 200 adults and youth to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic to build houses. In this cross-cultural program, as we live and work in our host community, we build connections with the people, learn, grow, and come back to our local community ready to continue to build awareness of global issues and work for justice.
