RE Registration for 2026-27 is now open!

The landscape of family life is changing. Between sports leagues, weekend commitments, and shifting routines, the traditional “Sunday School” model doesn’t always fit the realities of modern schedules.

At UUCW, our commitment to creating a joyful, meaningful community for spiritual growth remains steady. To meet families where they are, our Religious Education options for this fall are designed to be both simpler and more adaptable.

By registering your children now, you help us map out the exact shape of these programs—setting details like timing and frequency based on who is in the room.

Here is what to look forward to this fall:
Nursery & Elementary (Up to Age 11) We will continue to offer regular Sunday morning Nursery care and elementary RE classes. This year, school-age groups may occasionally combine into a multi-age format. Our teachers are training specifically in this “one-room schoolhouse” approach, which fosters wonderful peer mentoring and a close-knit, community feel.

Middle School & Junior High (Grades 6–8) Our middle school options are highly flexible this year, focusing on interaction and experience rather than a strict classroom model. Depending on your youth’s interests and schedule, they can participate in a few different ways:

  • Leadership & Mentorship: Assist RE teachers and mentor younger students during Sunday morning classes.

  • Worship Connection: Participate directly in adult worship services, building a familiar spiritual foundation they can return to throughout their lives.

  • Sunday Evening Youth Group: Building on the tight-knit community formed during last year’s OWL class, we are launching a Junior High youth group on Sunday evenings. This group will focus on social connection, interactive activities, and real-world experiences.

Note: 7th and 8th graders are welcome to participate in both morning and evening activities if they choose.

High School Youth Group (YRUU) YRUU will continue to meet on Sunday mornings immediately following the worship service. With a new group of incoming 9th graders joining the ranks, the energy this year will be high as the youth dive into leadership opportunities, social support, and planning for upcoming YouthCons and our summer trip to Boston.

How You Can Help A program like this takes a village. When you register your youth, you will see opportunities to volunteer. However, you do not need to have a child in the program to get involved. If you care about fostering the next generation of Unitarian Universalists and want to share your time, I would love to talk with you.
