A message from Laurie Boddie, UUCW Board of Trustees President
We’re about to see some amazing new security features at UUCW. Thanks to the wonderful grant writing skills of Kathy Herrewig as well as the on-going research and team commitment of Dave and Pat Rierson, Kurt Gaetano, Mark Steinberg, Scott Shulick, Mark Steinberg, Rosie Kapp, Vicki Banville, and Kelly Bognar, we’ve been awarded a $51,595 FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) grant for a project called “Security Enhancement and Crisis Response Training.”
The project will allow UUCW to make the following security enhancements: install new and improved lighting on the building and in the east parking lot (near the front entrance); mount surveillance cameras on the building, and place security latches on six outside doors. All of this work is scheduled to begin on December 1st. Once COVID restrictions are lifted, the grant also provides funds for safety training classes for ushers, church employees, and other members of the congregation.
Thanks again to the amazing team that worked so diligently to bring this grant to fruition!
