A message from Scott Shulick, UUCW Board of Trustees President
The end of February brings a special occasion taking place on a special day. This year is Leap Year and on Leap Day, we will be kicking off our Annual Pledge Drive. I hope you’ll be able to join us on February 29 from 6 to 8 pm for some fellowship and fun, and to pledge your commitment to UUCW.
Taking a Leap! This year’s pledge drive theme is “LEAP!” While there’s some obvious connections to frogs and the fact 2020 is a leap year, having a theme of LEAP asks us to reflect upon the year and also to look the future. What types of leaps have you made in your life? Has your heart leapt? Has your mind leapt? What inspired those leaps in the first place? What leaps await you in 2020 and beyond?
This year has been full of leaps. In June, I assumed the role of Board President here at UUCW – a big leap forward in my commitment to the church. Together we took the leap to “break ground’ on our building renovations, seek out a buyer for our east property and shift as a congregation celebrating at one service on Sundays. On the personal side, I sent my oldest son away to college last fall. We both leaped, probably him more than I.
As I look at where I stand and to what’s ahead, I’m considering what type of leap I can take with my pledge drive giving. I hope you are as well. I hope you take a leap with me and give even more generously to support UUCW this year.
