A message from Laurie Boddie, Board of Trustees President

On October 25th, we as a congregation demonstrated overwhelming support to continue and deepen our commitment to the journey of authentically living our values for justice by passing motions to adopt the 8th Principle and Dismantling White Supremacy Culture.  Passing these motions was definitely just the beginning; now the work begins.  The Board is in the process of chartering a new Anti-Racism Team for UUCW that will focus on bringing to life the work of Dismantling White Supremacy Culture here within UUCW.  To quote Ibram Kendi, “There is no neutrality in the racism struggle.  The opposite of ‘racist’ isn’t ‘non-racist.’ It’s ‘anti-racist.'”  We know that this work will challenge us personally as well as a community; and it’s work that most likely will not end. I’m looking forward to engaging with you in this deeply transformative and spiritual journey.

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.  If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to any member of the Board of Trustees.

Yours in the journey,
