A message from Laurie Boddie, Board of Trustees President

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our UUCW Special Congregational Meeting on September 25, 2020; and also to those of you who couldn’t be present yet mailed in your ballots! The following motion, “UUCW accepts the Letter of Intent to Purchase the east property submitted by Castle Assisted Living and authorizes the Executive Team, the Board of Trustees and its advisors to finalize the sale of the east property accordingly,” passed with a vote of 130 For, 6 Against, and 6 Abstain.

Castle Assisted Living is now in the process of constructing the offer to purchase.  As noted in the materials that were distributed prior to the Congregational Meeting, this is a somewhat complex arrangement and most likely will not be finalized for 10 months or so.  We’ll be sure to provide updates on the process as they become available.

I’d like to extend a very heartfelt, personal thank you to Scott Shulick and Leslie Peterson who have worked on this project for over a year to bring us to this point. From the onset, they worked with the East Property Task Force, then directly with the leadership of Castle Assisted Living, and our legal counsel.  Both Leslie and Scott have devoted countless hours of hard work to this project!  Special gratitude to Scott for also creating all of the materials for us to thoroughly understand the offer and for hosting our Zoom congregational information sessions.  Frequently asked questions can be accessed here. On behalf of myself, and all of us, a deep bow of gratitude to both of you!

The Board is thrilled to have this level of congregational support as we move forward with plans to sell the east property.  If you have any additional thoughts or questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Scott, or Leslie.

Regards,

Laurie
UUCW Board of Trustees President
