A message from UUCW member Sadie Sveum:
Thank you to those who were able to donate to Invisible Realities Ministry Church in June. I dropped off donations Wednesday and Pastor Will was extremely grateful.
He’s’ really in the trenches helping all kinds of people affected by the pandemic. He shared stories of a Veteran having trouble getting unemployment benefits and finding work, young male parishioners struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts as well as the three children who
continue to find their way after losing their grandfather who was raising them suddenly. Their grandmother has now moved in to help but money is still an issue. He also shared that although many of his families are able to find breakfast and lunch for their kids through MPS and other community outreach programs, during these hard times and summer months, dinner continues to be a struggle. Amidst all this heartache he was able to show me his beautiful sanctuary all decked out by a fellow parishioner with decorations and balloon bouquets ready to celebrate the church’s high school graduates this weekend 🙂 This man is doing the work!! I so wished I could have hugged him or at least shook his hand.
Let’s pull together to make this month’s donation even grander!! If (my porch) purple tub fills up, I’ll even make an early delivery.
Loads of Love and Big Virtual Hugs and Handshakes …
Keep Practicing Hope and Stay Safe ~
Please contact Sadie Sveum to arrange for drop-off or pick up of food items.
The Social Action Committee has chosen to collect summer food donations for two worthy causes doing important work in the Milwaukee area:
IRM (Invisible Reality Ministries)
Pastor Will of the Invisible Reality Ministries, UUCW’s partner church in Milwaukee, will receive non-perishable food and a $300 check from the Social Action Council. Sadie Sveum again has offered to have food dropped off in the purple tub on her porch at 1435 North 67 Street, Wauwatosa. Pastor Will can pick up the donations when Sadie calls him to say that the tub is full, hopefully at least once each month. The IRM Church especially needs:
– white rice
– boxes of mac n cheese
– cans of Chef Boyardee dinners (spaghetti, ravioli)
– canned tuna and chicken
– peanut butter & jelly
– boxes of Cheez-It
– granola bars and Nature Valley Chewy Bars
Please be as generous as possible — there is a family in Pastor Will’s Church that recently lost their grandfather, who was supporting and feeding the children in that family. The IRM members are trying to help that family as much as possible.
Local BLM Protesters via ZAO Church MKE (partnering with First Unitarian Society)
Requested items: Bottled Water, Snacks (granola bars, trail mix, etc.), Medical Supplies (hand sanitizer, masks, etc.)
During the months of June, July and August you can drop off donations at the following sites:
For precise addresses for the above drop-off sites or if you’d like to be included as a drop-off site for the summer, contact Sadie Sveum. Thanks for all you do to help UUCW!
