Friends with Food is our featured food pantry for September and October. This nonprofit serves over 400 Southeastern Wisconsin families each week, including struggling seniors, veterans, and individuals facing medical hardships.
As a choice pantry, individuals “shop” for groceries rather than receiving pre-packaged boxes, ensuring families get what they actually need and reducing food waste.
While Friends with Food accepts all unopened, unexpired food items, they do not publish a specific grocery list. Instead, their most critical, ongoing needs are non-food essentials that stretch families’ budgets.
Their “always needed” list includes:
- Diapers and baby wipes
- Menstrual supplies
- General hygiene and personal care items
By supplying these expensive necessities, we help families avoid choosing between paying bills and buying food.
Thank you to all UUCW members who so generously support our food pantry choice each month. If you have any questions or suggestions for future pantries, please email Kathy Randall.
