UU Church West’s “Split the Plate” program is one of outreach and generosity. Each month we give half of all undesignated offerings to a non-profit organization, to help us live out our Unitarian Universalist values and serve our community.

Our Split the Plate partner for October is the Peace Learning Center of Milwaukee. The Peace Learning Center provides workshops to Milwaukee area school and community groups serving youth, teens and their adult staff.  The workshops teach participants to practice and use healthy communication and nonviolent conflict resolution to manage conflict in their daily lives.

When students have skills to communicate productively and diffuse conflict peacefully, valuable school time once spent on classroom management can be spent on teaching and learning.  The Center’s workshops lay the foundation that influences not only classroom culture, but also extends to improved communication in families and neighborhoods – the ripple effect is powerful!

To support the Peace Learning Center any time this month, go to the UUCW website’s “Donate” tab and select “Split the Plate” from the menu provided.
