The UUCW Split the Plate program has been a big part of Sunday services for over 10 years. The generosity given to these organizations along with the platform that UUCW provides the organization to get their message out, has always been important.
Since the beginning of 2009 UUCW members and friends have helped almost 100 different organizations for a total of $155,970.32 in donations going directly to those organizations. The congregation benefits from these contributions too. In the same period, UUCW received $110,656.21 from the Split the Plate offering.
Each year when the annual budget is created, the UUCW Finance Committee determines how much money they believe UUCW will receive designated to the Split the Plate fund. This money is in addition to any pledges that members and friends make each year. UUCW receives about 40% of the plate due to some contributions that are designated only to the Split the Plate organization for the month.
